Friday Folksy Finds - Foxes

Hello everyone, not been too well this week. Have spent time in the conservatory looking at the woodlands and very early one morning we got a fox in the garden.  I have heard them and seen them on the park but not often in the garden.  I know they are a nuisance to some people but I like them and love to see them, so I thought this week I would have a look at all the lovely fox craft that there is out on Folksy at the moment.  Not on Folksy but worth a look are the wonderful Mr Fox dolls that Emma Crocker has on her web page, check her out its worth it.  So back to Folksy Friday.
By Fabfunky
This foxy whiskered gentleman is super cool by Fabfunky.  I really like the fox on the print it gives it an interesting texture and adds to the whole image.  They do all kinds of smartly dressed foxes even an elizabethan lady, well worth a look.

Fell in love with these earings, I thought they were so unusual.  I like that the earings aren't a pair but that they complement each other so well.  The little fox looking at the squirrel in the tree, I think that they would wear really well.  Just something a little different that can really catch the eye.
By Habetrot
I just love this, it is the most foxy thing I've seen on Folksy.  It would be a perfect gift for a foxy minded felter or spinner.  The colours together are so evocative of fox.  Just great.
By Twiggd
Twiggd do any number of lovely craft pieces and badges, they are well made and beautifully presented.  This Mr Fox caught my eye a few weeks ago and I am glad I have an excuse to share him with everyone.  It is a lovely little piece and not too expensive.
By Jane Crick
Finally as the season approaches I wanted to share with you this wintery foxy christmas card.  Its a lovely graphic with the fox standing against a styalised snowy woodland.  Calm and quiet but so very seasonal.

Hope to share more finds with you next week and if I can get this dratted medication sorted out maybe a doll or something interesting for the shop.  All my orders this side of christmas are done so I have a free hand for a few weeks. I hope everyone's preparations for christmas are going well and warmest wishes to everyone.

Friday Folksy Finds - Berry

I decided on berry this week because there are so many about this year.  Our little rowan tree and the hollies are overloaded with berries this season.  When you walk in the country every type of berry bearing tree and shrub is hung heavy with fruit.  So these are my berry choices, I hope you like them.
From Wychbury Designs
I found these little hairgrips enchanting, lovely winter berry patterned fabric turned into such sweet hairgrips.  If you look on their page they have lots of interesting twist of fabric set jewellery that make great accessories for winter.
From Swallow Glass Studio
These little coasters are so berry, the sharp contrast between the intense red of the berries to the tense green stalks give these glass pieces the crispness of this time of year. I like the fact that no two would be the same.
From FizzStudio
This lovely soft giclee print of autumn berries by FizzStudio evokes the warm glow of autumn berries at their peak.  I enjoy the colour of autumn so much and here they have captured that tone.
From Written in Silver
This delicate silver ring is entitled winter berry trio and that is such a good title for this piece.  I think with winter berry you want to avoid anything too christmassy and this ring does, it truly captures the feel of winter. The trio is peridot, moonstone and garnet.

Wild Rose Designs

This is a real winter berry design, the sharp contrast between the neutral gray greens and vibrant berry red is just lovely. This is the sort of little bag that can make the transition between day and evening quite easily.

Well, these are my berry finds this week, I hope you like them.  Should you be interested in any of the pieces you will, of course, find them on Folksy listed under the names of the seller.  Well warmest wishe to you all and keep well.

All Girls Together, Sylvie and Sukie

Just thought I would share two new girls for the shop.  Sylvie and Sukie are Rhoda style dolls and both have jeans and a winter hat.  The little bags are made of leather and they are wearing Tilda fabric to make short tunics.  Its a new style of dress I have been experimenting with and I quite like it.  Both have plaited braids, which are a lot harder to get even than you would imagine.  Things have been busy but enjoyable and I am starting to get ready for New Year new orders, Christmas seems to have passed me buy this year and its only November! I am working on a little peg doll kit and will share it as soon as possible.  Still enjoying the mild autumn weather up here and taking my regular walk in our park, still so much colour around.  Well back to the sewing maching and warmest wishes to you all.

Friday Folksy Finds - Autumn Choices

I want to share five Friday Folksy Finds, these are gifts or jewellery or just simply lovely items that have taken my eye over the last week on Folksy.  I am going to try and do this most Fridays, pick a theme and look for gorgeous things in the Folksy Marketplace. As a maker it does you good to look at others work, to give you inspiration or just good colour combination.  Sharing it with you all will make me look all the harder. This week I wanted to find Autumn picks because walking through the park this morning, its still so warm and we still have the most amazing colour up here.  The beech stands are just glowing, so with that in mind here are my five finds.

A delicate delight by Indie-Pendant
I don't wear jewellery but the pendant is so sweet and such good colours for this time of year.  The rich colours give it vintage feel and the name of the shop is wonderful.

Pretty Autumn Leaves by Oh My Craft
The leaf mats are so delicate, you wouldn't to use them as doilies for ornaments they are too lovely to place anything on top of them.  I would like several to scatter on an old reclaimed bookshelf we have to add a little interest amidst the chaos of the books and wooden pieces we have.  The colours are really good.

This is so scrumptious by Penny Jane Designs
I am completely in love with this scarf, it looks so warm and so stylish as well.  I like felted gifts, I have been given a few and have made a few myself.  Wet felting is a very therapeutic if hard on the hands and lower back, but warm wet soapy wool is lovely to handle, the smell is pretty good too.  I think this scarf is gorgeous, bright orange against the warm moss green is so autumnal, the scarf seems to glow.

Wonderful quilled leaves by Victoria Brewer
Quilling seems to be making a come back, with modern designs and vibrant colours these leaves are really fun and very contemporary.  I think one or two hung at windows in the sun, the little shish mirrors just catching the sun would be a lovely touch to any room, particularly my work cabin which get all the morning sun!

A foxy whiskered gentleman by Seaforth Designs
I think this fox cushion is just great, love all the muted tweeds setting off the burnt orange of his face, all Seaforth Design cushions have a good combinations of textured fabric to give a really robust country look.

If any of these gorgeous hand made gifts takes your fancy they are all to be found by the shop names attached to each picture.

Astley Park Autumn Embroidery

I am just getting ready to start a new batch of orders and am spending so much time behind my sewing machine that I am making the effort to walk for an hour each day.  This has made me so in touch with my local park in autumn and I have come to love the rambles through the woodland and visits to the exhibitions there, they even have a great coffee shop that does a wonderful cappuccino, a real treat after a brisk walk.  The warm autumn weather has made such an amazing colourscape that it has left me breathless at times just in love with the woodlands again.  Having really missed contact with the wider natural world I have spent this weekend just playing with autumn coloured threads and canvas making an embroidered woodland path through Astley Park.  I find free embroidery really relaxing, you cannot do it wrong, the needle and canvas just responds to your mood and with a vague outline you can follow the threads.  It allows you to play with all those gorgeous threads that you have in your stash that can only by used in free embroidery and couched and pinned.  I started this little embroidery with a piece of Quaker Cloth and painted it with gouache, I then overlaid fly stitch, chain stitch and knots to raise the surface and make the textures.  The design is to represent a path through the woodland as well as an outline of the layout of the park.  We are so lucky to live so close to such a great resource, our garden backs onto the park so we literally have to step out of our garden gate and after a quick walk we are into the heart of the park.  Our local borough have made huge improvements over the last few years and if you are in Chorley I can heartily recommend a saunter through Astley Park and the lemon curd cake at the Cafe Ambio .
