Ciela, A Fairy Godmother

Ciela, a timy Fairy Godmother who has made it to the shop, the others all sold before I could get there. Ciela I showed noone so I could list her. Lavender in her stuffing with a tiny piece of turquoise for stregth she is a gentle girl. Her dress is a favourite of mine, Liberty Betsy in this blue/grey colourway teamed with peacock blues and cyan hair. As always she is finished with organza ribbon, tiny buttons and leather shoes.
Her features are hand painted and hand embroidered, her hair is also hand styled. She has a tiny silver coloured coronet in her hair.
They are a joy to make these little ladies, bringing a little magic into the world xx

Briallan, A Spring Mouse in a Wool Cape

Briallen is a little harvest mouse in her spring cape, with spring flowers covering her dress. The fabric is called Devon Petals and is so delicate to use. Teamed with pink linen and white tulle lace she has broderie anglais drawers. Finished with lots of tiny buttons, leather shoes and a sampler sachet she is ready for a walk in the woods.
Her cape is wood felt lined with delicate pink yarn dye cotton with a little hood. She has rose quartz to her heart for love and rose petals with rose absolute to her stuffing.
She is one of a series of spring mice I am making, others are ready but the weather has been so dreadful I cannot take pictures, which is frustrating! Briallan means Primrose and she has all kinds of primroses on her dress xx

Osian, A Rose Country Gentleman

I loved the idea of a gentleman mouse in pink yarn dyed cottons. I do like a chap in pink. With rose quartz to his heart and rose petals to his stuffing this little chap is all about love. His little waistcoat is lined and made from a Liberty Lawn called Devon Petals with spring flower heads blown about on a pale pink ground. Finished with soft pink buttons and a tiny sampler sachet he feels very comfortable to be around xx

Furry Mice for Summer Shows

Busy making furries for a show in the summer. Really enjoying the mohair again. These guys where the first ones I every made and I really love the lilac fur. The new ones will have violet glass bead eyes I think, more subtle than the black.
It is great to be working towards something so positive when January is usually so slow for me. I am enjoying filling my calender and looking forward to spring.
Little Lilac was the very first fur mouse I made and she now lives with a lovely family locally. Working with the fur is very differnt than working with a simple cotton cloth body. Deciding how align the fur, making sure the seam allowance is just right and wearing a mask to trim the fur on the paws and the face. I really love these colours and the anemone blanda just picks up the tones. The fabric is called Bramble and was new last year for summer.
When I made her I thought I had got the direction of the fur wrong but now I deliberately make them like that because I like the fuzziness. It gives them an old bear feel which I enjoy. Lilac has a little purple tail and tiny purple leather ears. I don't often revisit but the dolls for the shows I cannot share until after the submission and the fur babies are on my mind. I have a wicked Liberty fabric for a pink furry rabbit!
