Lapis, A Midnight Fairy God Mother

Lapis is a tiny fairy godmother doll dressed in a Liberty Piccadilly Poplin called The Vine Thief. She is a midnight fairy godmother trimmed with black organza ribbon and black tulle. Her pillow is stitched on black 22 count hardanger and her leather shoes are also black.
Her hair is a delightful sky blue and her wings follow that colour to match her underskirt.
I have made quite a few dolls this week but have not had time to photograph them so look out for new stock over the weekend
It truly is lovely fabric to work with. Slightly firmer than tana lawn and a real no crease finish. The Vine Thief, to quote Liberty is 'The design represents Dionysus, the Greek god of fruitfulness and wine, through his symbol of the grapevine – in his role as a nature god, he is connected to the bounty of the harvest. Redrawn from a design discovered in the Liberty archive, this Arts and Crafts style layout features tiny stylised florals, garden birds and an abundance of trailing grapes and vines – a traditional Liberty design, brimming with detail and charm.'
I am working on a whole series of midnight creatures getting ready for Liverpool Alternative Bazaar on 3rd of November 4pm till 9pm. I want to take rabbits, foxes, badger, cats and mice so I am very busy.
The midnight folk are a delight to work and I love the jewel colours that the midnight fabric brings. It is a joy to search them out and finally use them. Some vintage and some new but all fabulously patterned with a dark twist.
Getting ready for the winter shows is always exciting and marks the turn of the summer into early autumn for me. We were in Clitheroe yesterday and towards tea time you can feel the change in the light. Have a lovely weekend and my warmest wishes xx
