Nutmeg, A Gentleman Squirrel

This is little Nutkin, he and two sisters are now on the shop. He is a tiny dapper chap in smart plus fours with a Liberty print waistcoat and silk scarf. His shirt is white linen and his foraging bag is rich dark brown leather for all his finds.
He has a rich dark orange body made from Moda Grunge fabric so there is a subtle pattern and is huge tail is made from wool felt, the colour is Ember which I think is lovely. He has carnelian to his heart with chamomile in his stuffing.
I have thoroughly tested the pattern now and I am happy that it works. They are around seven inches and are slightly larger than the mice. I love their tufty ears.

Nutmeg, A New Squirrel Doll

This is Nutmeg, a new pattern that I have been working on. This is the first full draft of the pattern.
She is a red squirrel with a large felt embroidered tail and fluffy felt ears. In a rich pumpkin Moda Grunge she is around the same size as the mouse but slightly larger. Her facial details are hand embroidered and she has a black glass bead eye. She is not for sale as she is my first full run through and there will be slight alterations but I am making another just like her with a little boy companion, Nutkin.
The fabric is a classic print, a tana lawn it is called Meadow Classic and is one of my go to autumn prints. I must admit to being in full autumn mode now. I am really feeling the change in the season. Leaves are falling and fruit is fully ripened, the garden is looking tired and I feel the evening drawing in a little.
I hope you like her xx

Winnet , A Twilight Mouse

Winnet is a tiny twilight mouse dressed in a classic vintage Liberty print called Hiro. A dove grey ground with dark grey and black spruce covering the fabric and if you look carefully you can see the pale moon peeping through the branches on her skirt.

With citrine to her heart and chamomile in her stuffing she is finished with a sampler pillow, organza ribbon and tiny buttons.
The twilight fabrics are not as dark as the midnight fabrics and the body of the mouse is in a warm grey rather than black. A gentle twist for the late summer evenings.

Rollo, A Late Summer Fox

Rollo is a late summer fox with a touch of autumn. While still warm we are starting to get a feel for autumn up here. Leaves are turning and the garden is looking tired now.
Dressed in a Liberty Poplin called Sweet Midnight, this midnight summer fox is a dapper chap with smart plus fours and a coral silk cravat. His black leather boots and foraging bag are ready for a walk in the woods to collect his finds. His crisp white shirt is complemented with tiny buttons to his sleeves and waistcoat.
With carnelian to his heart and chamomile in his stuffing he is a perfect gentleman ready for a late summer walk to see what he can find.

Eadlin, A lovely memory

A little mouse from last year to share, a furry mohair mouse in a delightful vintage Liberty print.
I have been making twilight mice in greys and black but have not had time to photograph them so I am remembering Eadlin in her pea pod dress. The fabric was such a great find, truly vintage and I have never found any more to buy. A black ground with a myriad of peas and pods running across in a lovely pea green. Teamed with Grinch mohair she made a lovely little mouse. With little green leather tail and ears she has a hand embroidered face with a deep green pearl eye. Finished with black organza, black buttons and a black embroidered sampler pillow she truly is one of my darker mice. The black tulle and the green shot cotton sitting well together to make up her petticoats. As with all my mice she has a pair of broderie Anglais drawers with the tail peeping through. She went off to her new home last year and she was a joy to make!
