A Great Fabric Find

As you know, if you read my posts, I am very fabric driven. I love pattern so much and it often drives my choices with my dolls. Much of my Liberty fabric are off cuts from Verity's tie making business, a friend and colleague from university days. But there are fabric that I pursue, particularly old Liberty fabrics that I have loved using.
This fabric is one of my favourites for midnight bunnies. It is by Catherine Rowe and was the winner of the Liberty Open Call in 2018. Not exactly vintage but hard to find. I found some! So I am just getting ready for The Festival of Making at Blackburn Cathedral in July. Midnight bunnies will be a feature for me. It is lovely when you are so looking forward to work!
Enjoy the Bank Holiday and my warmest wishes xx

Clementine, A Fairy Tale and Fable Doll

Clementine is a little Fairy Tale and Fable doll inspired by the rhyme Oranges and Lemons. Dressed in a Liberty Lazenby Cotton called Orchard Garden she has oranges all across a teal ground with leaves and flower buds.
Her apron is embroidered and appliqued with an abundance of oranges, lemons and blossom. I have to say it was the fabric that gave me the idea, so rich and colourful to make a delightful little doll. She sports a teal woolly hat and little felt teal boots with white socks. As always she is properly dressed with white knickers in broderie anglais beneath her dress. Her underskirts are teal shot cotton and white tulle lace. I just love her colours.
Clementine is currently at The Eden Gallery in Newburgh with two friends.

Sage from Scarborough Fair

This is Sage from the song Scarborough Fair. She is dressed in a wonderful Acufactum print from @elmhirstfabrics called Love of Herbs and her apron tells the story of the song with parsley sage rosemary and thyme dotted about. Other herbs feature too, including borage and chives.
Teamed with lilac cotton chambray and white tulle, she sports a tiny sampler pillow, purple bobble hat and tiny purple felt boots with white socks. Beneath she wears white broderie Anglais drawers.
She was a delight to make, partially inspired by the fabric but mostly by the song which is a favourite of mine. Love the Simon and Garfunkel version.

Baby Wednesday at Liverpool Alt Bazaar

Little Baby Wednesday with her headless doll is pale and interesting. Dressed in a beautiful yarn dye grey and black fabric with button details and a lace collar. She has grey linen and black tulle petticoats with white broderie drawers and tiny black felt boots.
She was great fun to make and I am a fan of both the original Wednesday, Lisa Loring as well as Christina Ricci and her current iteration Jenna Ortega. There have been seven Wednesdays in all in both live action and animation stories and I love them all.
I am a fan of Gudrun Sjoden and like their striped t shirts, having bought a black and white stripe and wearing it for the first time on seeing me, David said just one word, Pugsley! Which kind of put me in my place!
Anyway, just to let everyone know we will be at Camp and Furnace in Liverpool this Sunday, 4th May from 4pm until 9pm for Liverpool Alternative Bazaar. It will be a great show with fifty alternative stalls offering quality hand made work and should be a good night. It would be lovely to see you and say hello xx
