Little Elphaba will be joining us, along with some new devilish imps and new dolls at the Liverpool Alternative Bazaar on Sunday night 3rd November between 4pm and 9pm. It should be a really great night and it would be lovely if you could come and say hello. It is a free event with over 50 alternative stalls.Elphaba is 50cm tall with long legs and a plump bottom to sit nicely. She has a silk dress with linen and tulle petticoats. Her hat is wool felt and she has a ruby slipper on her sampler sachet. Her face is hand embroidered and her black hair is hand styled wool tops. Trimmed with green organza ribbon, a tulle scarf with little crystals she is gentle girl with a steady nature, only slightly wicked!
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed making my Wednesday. The Addams Family are one of my favourites and I have been loving other makers Wednesdays. Liz at Lybo @lybo_handmade has made a great gal as has Velvet Rainbows @velvetrainbowsboutique.This young lady is suitably pale with a lovely yarn dyed cotton dress with a linen underskirt and a black tulle petticoat. Her dress is trimmed by a fine cotton lace collar with tiny buttons and she is carrying her doll. Headless of course. With stripy legs, black boots and a jaunty crochet beret she is ready for all autumn can bring. This was such fun to make, especially the tiny doll. She really makes me smile xx
emembering little Mab from last year dressed in the wonderful Bird Prince by Acufactum. With citrine to her heart and chamomile in her stuffing she was a warm and gentle girl. Our woodland is in full autumn colour at the moment and the mammoth task of collecting leaves from the garden has started. It always amazes me how heavy they are when brought together. The last of the dahlias have gone and so have the asters but we still have lots of berries and hips.We are getting ready for a series of events over November, beginning with Liverpool Alternative Bazaar at Camp and Furnace on the 3rd from 4pm to 9pm. Next is Lytham Hall and the Winter Art Festival on Saturday 16th November from 11am to 4pm and finally Crafty Vintage are hosting an Christmas Market at Oakhill in Whalley on 30th November 11am to 4pm. Each will be very different and looking forward to them all. If you can pop along and say hello it will be lovely to see you.
Most of my dolls have leather shoes, tiny little pieces of leather, punched and sewn. I find to go through my sewing machine comfortably no piece of leather thicker than 1mm, preferably 0.6 or 0.7mm. I use an 80 standard needle and this works well. I buy my leather in a myriad of colours much of which is in tiny pieces, not larger than 10cmx20cm. Much of it is preowned.I find the best place to find tiny pieces of multiple colours is manxants on Ebayhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/manxantsThis lady is based on the Isle of Man and has a wonderful array of colours, finishes and thicknesses. Have a peep, she offers a great service, is quick to respond but her postage is always steep but wonderful choice.
I have finally managed to photograph some frogs. Every time I have a frog she or he sells before I have taken a photo. So finally frogs. It is lovely that they go but I do like a record of them. These little girls and their brother will be coming with me to my autumn shows. As ever they are lavishly embroidered with French knots and has a piece of moss agate to their hearts with rosemary in their stuffing. They are dressed in a Liberty tana lawn called Rosea colourways B and C. The flowers reminded me of water lilies and they seemed perfect for a frog. The blue has black tulle and black ribbon while the pink has white tulle. The were a delight to make and I hope you like them xx
Three weeks tonight we are having a stall at Liverpool Alternative Bazaar at Camp and Furnace in Liverpool. This night market will run from 4pm to 9pm with lots of unusual and alternative stalls. Camp and Furnace is at 67 Greenland Street, Liverpool, L10BY.We are really looking forward to the night and will have a new Imp Squeak to launch with lots of witches, familiars and textile gifts. I suspect we may be the tamest stall there but are really going to enjoy the evening. It would be great to see you there and to say hello, the event is free to enter with curated makers and around fifty stalls.
Sharing Lola Witch today, an autumn witch with a stunning vintage Liberty print dress called Lola Weisellberg! I love the rich autumn tones of this fabric on a warm cream ground. Her little hat sports a bronze acorn as does her sampler pillow. She has my own dried chamomile to her stuffing with a few drops of essence and a piece of carnelian to her heart for enhanced creativity. She has hand styled brunette wool tops for her hair with a hand painted and hand embroidered face. She is a gentle girl wandering the hedgerow looking for herbs and inspiration.Working hard on Christmas mice at the moment and the odd Christmas robin too. Looking forward to the upcoming shows and excited for them. Have a lovely weekend and my warmest wishes xx
