Tor, A Gentleman Bunny in a Wool Jacket

 

This is Tor in his smart lined wool jacket for winter. I would love you all to tell me what you think. Creating the pattern took some serious rethinking and several attempts. Originally he had a hood and it looked incongrous with his plus fours. The wool scarf created far too much bulk around his head and neck so I opted for a delicate silk ribbon. I am rather smitten with his little jacket, the pattern is now managable and is not foo bulky even though it is lined. I am enjoying all the details, buttons to his cuffs and little shirt sleeves peeping out of his jacket. He seems like a very chilled out chap!

Sigrid, A Winter Bunny

 

This is Sigrid, my first doll of 2023. She had to be a rabbit for this Year of the Rabbit and wrapped in a warm wool cape. Her face is hand painted and then hand embroidered, her huge nose is all french knots. She has citrine to her heart for winter warmth and my own chamomile in her stuffing with a touch of Roman Chamomile essential oil for a gentle scent.
The fabric is part of my Christmas present and is from the Changing Seasons collection - rich browns and cool blues referencing the cool colours of winter in January. Lovely to start the new year with a winter bunny xx

The Year of the Rabbit

 

I am sharing a collection of bunnies gone by to celebrate The Year of the Rabbit. A rabbit year is for families, strengthening bonds and making new friends. These are some of the first of this style of bunny I made, some for the shop and some as commissions. I loved making each one and enjoy seeing how the pattern has changed as I develop them.

Connie was the first, then Maple with Merlin and Autum coming later. I am working on winter rabbits at the moment but the weather has been so awful I have been unable to take any photographs this week, so dark and wet. It was a joy to make each one and lovely to look back xx

Talvi, The Last Doll of 2022

 

This is Talvi and she will be my last doll of the year. It has been a lovely year with lots of great milestones and events, I am thankful to all of you that have supported me this year and I wish you all a joyful New Year.

Talvi is a little Lancashire witch and part of a small collection called Winter Silence using a range of fabric from Moda's Changing Seasons collection by Holly Taylor. I don't buy a lot of new, new fabric if you know what I mean and this was a gift from my lovely husband as a surprise thank you for doing all his admin. Such good taste that man.

Each of the dolls in this little collection has tiger's eye to their heart with my chamomile flowers with a touch of roman chamomile oil for a lovely scent. Each will be dressed in a varient of the Moda fabric and the collection is titled Winter Silence. It encapsulates the stillness of this time of year, you can feel the earth sleeping.

Daalny, A Winter Rabbit

 

When you have to make a doll just to see what she would look like. This is Daalny, a little winter rabbit in pinks and blues with a warm winter wool cape. She is dressed in a Liberty print called Winterberry Cool with blue spruce and holly leaves. Across the fabric holly berries are scattered in bright pinks and deep fuschia. Her underskirts are deep cerise silk and white tulle with a coordinating berry fabric by Liberty in her ears.

I just love the big noses on these rabbits.

This may be my last post before Christmas. I have shut my Folksy shop as I cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas. Even with first class signed postage I have parcels not arrived after a week or more and I would not want to disappoint folk.

It has been a lovely year with a lot happening at home but still managing to make milestone moments. A huge thank you to all my customers, Camilla and Folksy for all their support and looking forward to all the good things happening in 2023.

A Silver Fox for Christmas

 

This is Sanan, a silver fox in a frosted forest print by Makower. Wrapped in a wool felt winter cape with a Japanese yarn dye lining she is ready for a walk in the frosty mornings.
With rose petals to her stuffing and a rose quartz crystal to her heart she is a dainty little silver fox.
Slowing down now for the Yule season, all the commissions are now finished and posted and I am simply enjoying myself with doll makes to suit my fancy. I do like a silver fox.

Bryony and Haig, Winter Foxes

So happy to be able to paint the faces of these foxes again, they are my most complicated pattern. I love making them and joyfully I can now manage their tiny faces. Each is dressed in Makower's Hedgrow winter print showing the last of the autumn leaves. Russets, oranges and greys team to make a warm combination of textures and colours. Silk, yarn dyed cotton and wool felt are some of the fabrics used to make this pair. Each has citrine to their heart with my chamomile in their stuffing. Haig carries a woolfelt and leather bag and Bryony has her sampler sachet finishing off with leather shoes and lots of tiny buttons
