Rosaria, A Rose Mohair Mouse

Rosaria is a little rose pink mouse for the end of the year. This pale pink Helmbold mohair is one of my favourites. Pale pink eyes and ears with a darker pink tail, this little mohair mouse is gently scented with rose petals and rose absolute. With a tiny piece of rose quartz to her heart.
The heavily embroidered and appliqued skirt to her dress is reflected in the choice of a vintage Liberty print as her petticoat and is just peeping at the lining to the bodice of her dress. All pinks and creams she is a light of sweetness.
I do like the folk art look to my embroidery. With felt applique delineating the pattern which is then over stitched. I use a mixture of stitches, beads and buttons to, hopefully, create a pleasing texture palette with a rhythm running across her skirt. The embroidery runs around the skirt to the back and the colours are picked up by the choice of underskirts and bodice lining. The little sampler pillow echoes these colours.
This is my last post of 2023 and can I take this opportunity to thank all of you, who have supported me this year. Both my customers and on social media. Your support means the world to me. It is so lovely to be part of such a generous and kind community.
Wishing you all the very best for 2024 with my warmest regards.

Bumble, A Honey Mouse

Bumble is a tiny mohair mouse in a honey coloured dress, heavily embroidered with folk art motifs. Her dress is embroidered and appliqued in shades of fawn and taupe with cream underskirts and drawers. The mohair is a honey on brown sparse fabric with a deep brown eye and fawn ears.

The skirt is lined as is the bodice with Liberty tana lawn in a vintage print, that is echoed in one of her petticoats the other being cream tulle.
This little mouse has tiger's eye to her heart with chamomile in her stuffing. Finished with a sampler pillow and tiny leather shoes she was a lovely tonal mouse to work.
This little embroidered finger mouse is heavily embroidered and then stuffed, in this case, with chamomile for a gentle scent. She is a new design with appliqued and embroidered flowers, pearl eyes and a little twine tail. All hand stitched she will sit nicely in your knicker drawer to scent your undies!
I have been taking time and working only one doll a week. This has given my the space to be here for Mum and gets lots of those end of year jobs done. Reuba and I just spent two days power washing our flags. Having got so wet the first day Reuba did the second day in an old pair of pyjama bottoms with her Dad's wellies on!
This will be my last post post before Christmas and I just want to say a huge thank you to my customers for all their support this year and to everyone on social media for their kind comments.
All have a wonderful Christmas and my warmest wishes for the winter xx

Anouk, A Lavender Mouse

Anouk, named for a variety of lavender, is a tiny mouse with amethyst to her heart and lavender in her stuffing. She has a folk art dress, heavily embroidered to front and around to the back with a daisy, lavender and foliage motif.
I have used lots of french knots, straight stitch, feather stitch and tiny buttons to create her skirt. Her pillow is in complimentary colours with a lilac sash.
The mohair is a Helmbold German Sparse Lavender mohair with tiny purple leather ears and a pink tail peeping out of her drawers. With a hand embroidered face, a deep purple eye and pink nose she is a sweet tubby mohair mouse.
Not often I show a back view but the back is as lovely as the front with two lavender daisies on her bottom!
The skirt is lined with Liberty and she has a Liberty underskirt and tulle lace petticoat leading to stiped grey legs and tiny leather shoes.
She has a gentle face, with a wistful expression, a softness. Her bodice is lined with the Liberty fabric and makes for a pretty edge to her dress.
Well, I am back in the garden this morning. Cutting back and barking up the front beds. It is jolly cold up here but finally stopped raining. Had a lovely evening with Reuba and Mum, gentle chats and lots of tea. She is not wanting to go to far and enjoying her fire. Too sad to decorate this year but lots of lovely Christmas cards and can I say, if anyone from Bent Lane in Leyland reads this, thank you for being so kind and caring to my Mum. So many cards and offers of company, it is really touching xx

Lumi, A Winter Mohair Mouse

We have had busy week as we had to have a new roof! Bit of a shock to the old purse but needs must. We had had a few people telling us they could fettle the problem but our man actually went into the loft and in one spot you could see daylight!
So this week I have only made one doll, which is a first for me. Little Lumi is a snow mouse dressed in an embroidered winter ensemble. Taking cold winter colours, I appliqued felt forms and then embroidered and beaded them. Running freehand slow stitch embroidery across the dress skirt to the back of the skirt.
I wanted to make a winter mouse not a Christmas mouse and I like her for that.
I love the cold colours and that touch of ice. The colours follow onto her little stitched pillow and run right around the dress to the back seam.
I have use a piece of snowflake obsidian to her heart with rosemary in her stuffing for a gentle winter scent. I like rosemary generally but it makes for a lovely winter fragrance. It is one of the strong scents still in my garden and when I brush the bushes they fill the air with aroma.
The touch of dark pink thread picks out her nose with paler pink whiskers. I love the softest pink eye. These are Gutermann 4mm glass beads. Her ears are the softest leather, so fine and soft that they scrunch in a most appealing way. The mohair is a German sparse fabric with a very short pile so her fur stands on end which I love!
She will be the first mouse in my restock in January. I am working on more mohair mice also for January.
Taking Mum to Bents Garden Centre today at Glazebury to see the decorations ( I am going to sneak off and look at the plants!) Have a lovely weekend and my warmest wishes xx

A Black and Gold Christmas Trio of Mice

Aurea (Sold) is a little black Christmas mouse. Dressed in Stof Christmas Shimmer 'Falling Pine Cones'. Grey spruce and cones with golden highlights and a black ground. Trimmed with golden ribbon, a little black sampler pillow and tiny black leather shoes. Her underskirts are antique golden silk with black tulle lace.
Aurea has snowflake obsidian to her heart with frankensence to her heart.
I think of these little sweeties as marmite mice, people either love a black mouse for Christmas or not. I really love the richness in their colours. This little girl is travelling to Mexico, I hope she gets there in time.
Eurig (Sold)is a country gentleman mouse with black 'tweed' plus fours and a golden silk scarf. His details are picked out in gold and black, with a crisp white linen shirt and a dapper Shimmer waistcoat he is quite the gentleman.
Each leather ear is held for extra strength with a tiny seed bead and in this series their ear beads are golden as are their eyelashes, I love these details.
Aurelie(Sold) like her sister Aurea is a little black mouse dressed in a Christmas Shimmer fabric with greys, golds and black. Her winter warm cape is a lovely rich charcoal wool felt lined with the same fabric as Eurig's troos.
Wrapped up ready for a cold winter walk she is another marmite mouse but I really enjoy the colours. I made two sets of these mice this year and one set is going to a home with a black feather Christmas tree! All his decorations are black and gold. He promised to send me a photograph!
