Friday Folksy Finds - Little Monsters

Just one week to go to the end of Becca's degree and you should see the mess - it is quite something.  Forget going in the cabin, that's not happening and the big room in the house is overflowing, I am reduced to sketch book work in my bedroom!  I don't mind, you only finish your degree once in a lifetime and both David and I are so proud of her working so hard but Oh my can she spread out.

The most brilliant news is that she has been accepted onto the MA at Uclan and she starts in September this year.  Knowing that sadly (but by necessity) I am going to hand over my workshop to Becca I have started sorting out to return to the workroom in the house and I came across many forgotten photo albums of my little monster when she was young.  Never one for dolls, with Becca it was always monsters, aliens and ghoulish creatures.  For several years she went to sleep with a two foot cockroach character from MIB the film - she called her Cynthia.  With this in mind I went in search of little monsters that my little monster would have loved.  There are some real sweeties.

fiona t.

This adorable mummy from fiona t. would have been a much loved addition to Becca's monster collection.  Tiny fabric anything was always a much loved favourite of my girl.  This lady makes zombie foxes and wonderful zombie sloths, great for the budding xeno biologist.

MAYKI

Really attractive personalised print from MAYKI, they do several different monster styles as well as gentler prints for all kinds of occasions.  I particularly like the Russian Matryoshka Doll print which would have suited me down to the ground when I was a little girl.

Kina Ceramic Design

This is a wonderful shop run by Kina Gorska, these little monsters would have truly appealed to my girl.  She has always enjoyed anything miniature, beautifully formed little things enthrall her, this lady also has the most delicate tiny brooches some monsters but all kinds of other designs.  Have a peep at this shop, there is a real quirky elegance here.

Make with Mum

At six years old a pink monster that would fit in your pocket would have had Becca in raptures.  'Make with Mum' is run by Polly McNamara and she has peg dolls by the dozen, as well as peg doll kits.  There is a very healthy collection of monsters too.  Great shop with original ideas - the monsters are not suitable for small children but would look great as an alternative ornament or mascot.

BellaOski Designs

My search for little monsters lead me to this cool shop, BellaOski Designs is run by Debbie Hawkins and there is some very stylish alternative baby wear to be found here, including this Nessie print dribble bib.  Headbands, bandanas and bibs are just some of the designs all in really original prints.  For indibaby ideas have a peep here for something different.

Great selection of mini monsters to be had in the shops on Folksy - some really innovative designs along a monster theme.  Becca has just glanced at my selection and I have had an approving nod at my finds, great coming from a monster collecting maestro.

Every one have a great weekend and I will go and find somewhere to sit that isn't covered in Becca's design work.

Friday Folksy Finds - Dinky Dolly

Oh, I am still looked out of the cabin and am now getting lack of cabin fever.  Becca is working so hard and everything is coming together really well but you can cut the tension in our house with a knife.  Two weeks and counting.

Went looking this week for mini dollies, little curiosities that just tickle my imagination. Lots and lots of really wonderful ideas out there for anyone, who like me, loves all things doll.

PrairieMoonCrafts

Wonderful vintage inspired laminated necklace by PrairieMoonCrafts.  The outfits swing about to reveal alternatives underneath, all the way down to dinky underwear.  Lots to choose from and all so individual, Jane Wells makes these little lovelies and I think many a little girl would enjoy this original gift.

kekekaka

I really enjoy this shop, all of their ideas are unique and original.  This is mini friend Lara, she comes in her own printed box with a message card.  Kekekaka suggest you send her as gift for a friend with a special message or keep her yourself to cheer you up, you can even use her as a pincushion.

Angela Callanan

This pretty glass pendant comes with a delicate print of a party dress in gorgeous pink.  This image comes from Angela's Snow Queen series of prints.  It comes with a chain and with the suggestion that a ribbon would be equally pretty.

kekekaka

Great little brooch, really different image.  I am really drawn to this little dinky green doll with her wonderful hair.  The brooches are 'veggie printed on plastic and finished with matt varnish'.  Really take a peep at this shop, it is just brilliant - delightfully odd.

Realicoul

Pretty little brooch made with vintage illustration and plywood, laser cut for a crisp finish. The fashion for matryoshka or Russian dolls seems to be passing but I must admit to enjoying the style and the glorious colours.  If you are looking for anything buttons related have a peep at this very cool shop.

Well, hope you enjoyed a delight of different dollies, so many lovely things on Folksy doll related.  Keep well and have a great weekend, my warmest wishes.

Friday Folksy Finds - More Mice

Having found my lovely little Fiona by Peach Plot I was inspired to look at other designers' mice on Folksy and found many more wonderful mice.  Becca has been encouraging me to make some animal headed dolls for a while and when I can get back in the workshop maybe I will.

Still locked out of the cabin workshop, Becca is a head of schedule but still working frantically for her final show and the the cabin is a bomb site.  My trusty old sewing machine has moved further and further down the table and is now back in it's case on the floor.  When she is ready it is going to take a week just to get rid of the dust.

But back to my many more mice, I hope you enjoy this mischief of mice.

All Things Ottoline

This little hand stitched lovely is by All Things Ottoline and stands on a vintage cotton reel. The shop is run by Erica Jane Waters and there is a website, www.allthingsottoline.com. Erica describes Madeleine the ballerina as a Ville Mouse and there are others on her website but sadly no more on Folksy, just Madeleine.

Wild Things

At the right age Becca would have adored this little pinnie by Kirsty Hartley of Wild Things. Sadly again this is the only item on the shop but the details and design are just so sweet, the pockets are little paws with tiny pink claws.

Moonstruck Miniatures

These amazing miniatures are custom made cake toppers for wedding cakes.  Again, the only item for sale by Miriam Lacey up in Glasgow but the shop offers custom mice and explains how you can customise you mouse topper.  The detail is fantastic and apparently every hair is punched in by hand.

The Hunny Bunny Company

There are lots of plush and knitted dainties on the pages of The Hunny Bunny Company and plenty of knitted mice but I just love this little message mouse.  They look beautifully made and the details are gorgeous.  There is a menagerie in the shop just have a peep, there is even a knitting knitted mouse!

Witty Dawn

You couldn't have a mouse page without a wonderful retro mouse by Dawn Witt of Witty Dawn.  This lady has a cornucopia of vintage fabrics and wonderful creatures and cushions using retro cloth.  I have my eye on a 50's fabric leaf cushion but am trying to resist.  If you are looking for a gift with a vintage twist take a look at this shop.

There are so many more mice on Folksy it was hard to just stick with five, if you are a musophile have a peep and enjoy the multitude of mice.
